What an international school in Qatar actually needs

Qatar has one of the highest ratios of international to national schooling anywhere in the Gulf. A single school in Doha may run a British curriculum in one wing and an American or IB programme in another, teach children of twenty nationalities, and answer to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for all of them. The administrative load is not the teaching — it is keeping several parallel grading systems, report formats and fee structures straight at once.

That is where most systems break. A platform built around one curriculum forces the other programmes into it, and the school ends up maintaining the difference in spreadsheets. EduX keeps separate grading schemes, stages and report templates inside one account, so a school does not pay for a second system to hold its second curriculum.

The second requirement is language. Reports for an inspection in English, statements for a Qatari parent in Arabic, and staff who switch between the two mid-sentence. EduX was built Arabic-first with full English rather than the other way round, which is why RTL reports print correctly instead of collapsing.

EduX and the Ministry’s own portals

EduX does not replace the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s systems, and does not claim a live connection to them. Official academic records stay where the Ministry requires them and your staff continue to file there. EduX covers the layer those portals were never designed for: fees and instalments, receipts and statements, admissions, transport, canteen, payroll and day-to-day parent communication. Any vendor promising a two-way sync with a ministry platform is worth questioning closely.

Five questions to ask any vendor

  1. Run a full fee cycle in front of me now — enrol a student, build a plan, take a payment, show the arrears list. If data must be "prepared first", you are watching a slideshow.
  2. Print an Arabic report. This is where translated systems fail: leftover English headers, reversed numerals, broken layout.
  3. How many clicks to mark a class absent? Three versus fifteen is hours a week for teachers, and the main reason systems get abandoned.
  4. What happens if we leave? Ask for a full data export before signing, not after.
  5. What is the all-in first-year number? Subscription, setup, migration, training, support and the parent app.

FAQ

Questions from Qatari schools

Does EduX work for international curricula in Qatar?

Yes. British, American, IB and national programmes can run side by side in one account, each with its own grading scheme, stages and report templates, without a second system.

Does the system work in English as well as Arabic?

Yes. Interface, reports and the parent app run in Arabic (native RTL) and English — what a Doha school with mixed staff and parents needs every day.

How are school fees handled?

Instalment plans per stage in Qatari Riyals, sibling discounts, per-student statements, automated reminders for late payers, and receipts and invoices with an exportable archive.

Does EduX connect to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education?

No, and no vendor should claim it does. Official records stay in the Ministry’s own systems; EduX runs the operational and financial side of the school.

How long does implementation take?

We handle setup as soon as we receive your data, including configuration, migration of existing Excel records and remote team training.

Do we need a server at the school?

No. EduX is fully cloud-based and opens in a browser. Hosting, updates and backups are our responsibility.

Does it support multi-branch school groups?

Yes. Each branch keeps its own fee plans, staff and permissions, while head office sees a consolidated view and students transfer between branches with their financial history.

Who owns the school’s data?

The school does. Data can be exported at any time in a usable format and the subscription stopped without penalty.
